Mapleton isn’t giving up on the chance to receive $32 million from the state of Colorado’s Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) program!

The BEST program is a statewide solution for Colorado’s crumbling schools. Mapleton received the grant because the state recognized the significant needs of the District.

As a matching grant, Colorado is willing to pay 59% of the cost to repair Mapleton’s buildings if the District can come up with a 41% match. After losing a bond election by just 56 votes, Mapleton is determined to come up with their $22 million match by Dec. 31, 2009!

Mapleton’s students are making great strides and receiving national attention for their accomplishments. Mapleton’s academic program was singled out by President Obama when he said he knows America can create schools that work, and Mapleton’s rigorous school reform program is proof of that. Graduation rates are on the rise – 12.1 percent higher in 2008 than in 2007. Almost 100% of Mapleton’s seniors applied to college and 96% were accepted to the college of their choice.
