Mapleton
Board of Education
The Mapleton Board of Education comprises five elected community volunteers who work many hours each year to represent the community and lead the District. Elected by voters from within Mapleton, the board approves the district curriculum, instructional materials, and annual budget. The board acts in accordance with Colorado and federal laws while remaining responsive to the unique needs of the Mapleton community.

Norma Frank, Co-Chair

Ms. Frank was appointed to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2003. She is the vice president and owner of Colorado Lighting Inc. She has two children, Chris and Robin, who both graduated from Skyview H.S., and several grandchildren who are future Wolverines.

Mr. Emmert was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2005, and works as a Technical Training Instructor at RTD. He and his wife Kelly have two children, who have attended Mapleton Public Schools. Their son graduated from Welby New Tech High School in 2008.

Mr. Winslow was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2011, and is a supervisor for H & H Enterprises, Inc., a metal fabrication shop in Thornton. He and his wife Jaime have two sons, Grant and Garrett, who attend Achieve Academy.
Raymond Garcia, Co-Chair

Mr. Garcia was appointed to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2008. Now retired, Garcia served the University of Colorado at Boulder for 30 years, most recently as the Assistant Director for Diversity Initiatives. He has two grandchildren, including a granddaughter at York International.
Karen Hoopes, Secretary

Mrs. Hoopes was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2011. She is the Statewide Coordinator for Vocational Training and Employment Programs for marginalized populations at the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. She has held executive positions in technology companies and has owned and operated a successful technology consulting business. Karen has an M.S. in Business Management and certifications in Addictions Counseling and Career Development Facilitation |
