  EXPLORATION OF CAREER OPTIONS PERSONAL TALENTS AND SKILLS FOR SUCCESS TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
K Identify and follow classroom rules and complete classroom jobs and/or assignments. Identify and express wants and needs in order to work cooperatively. Connect program prompts and symbols to appropriate keys.
    1. Assessments: The student will complete a variety of activities, at least one per strand, which demonstrate skills and knowledge in the area of Career Development. Possible ideas include the following:
      a. Participation in designing classroom expectations
      b. Participation and completion of classroom jobs and assignments
      c. Drawings of various careers
      d. Completion of a technology product
      e. Connections to other content areas
    2. Rubric

  • The assessment satisifes all the Meets Standard criteria. Additionally,
  • The student completes activities which are appropriate for the intent of the task.
  • The student includes personalized response and detail to the activities.

EXPLORATION OF CAREER OPTIONS

    The student will identify and follow classroom rules and complete classroom jobs and/or assignments.
      -explore a variety of occupations, focusing on daycare provider, letter carrier, and ambulance attendant
      -identify and follow own classroom rules
      -participate in discussions about a variety of jobs and rules that exist within the classroom
      -identify basic jobs that are needed within own classroom
      -request help from peers and teachers in order to complete jobs appropriately
      -complete daily classroom jobs and/or assignments appropriately
      -listen to a variety of literature about different career options
      -view videos about a variety of careers
      -participate in a Career Fair
      -participate in a Junior Achievement program

PERSONAL TALENTS AND SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

    The student will identify and express wants and needs in order to work cooperatively.
      -state safety reasons for rules
      -relate actions to consequences
      -investigate through discussion and role-playing the differences between needs and wants
        -needs = essentials
        -wants = nonessentials
      -investigate the effects of own needs and wants on others in the group
      -use simple problem solving strategies to resolve conflicts
      -discuss and practice characteristics of appropriate behaviors
        -respecting others and their property
        -cooperating with others
        -showing kindness towards others
        -conversing without interrupting
        -listening to peers and adults
        -sharing ideas, materials, and learning supplies

    TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

      The student will connect program prompts and symbols to appropriate keys.
      Keyboarding/Word-Processing
        -use the appropriate keyboarding/word-processing skills:
          -left/right concept
          -left/right index finger
          -arm and hand position
          -body posture
          -special keys: return, space bar, and back arrow
          -own name
          -WTR letters and HM letters
          -upper and lower case letters
          -sounds of letters
      Utilization of CMI (Computer Manipulated Instruction) and CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction)
        -connect the appropriate keys to the specific software:
          -Jostens AIMS: Tapestry
          -WTR/VALE
          -ICLAS menu
          -Write Time
