  EXPLORATION OF CAREER OPTIONS PERSONAL TALENTS AND SKILLS FOR SUCCESS TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
K Identify and follow classroom rules and complete classroom jobs and/or assignments. Identify and express wants and needs in order to work cooperatively. Connect program prompts and symbols to appropriate keys.
1st Examine jobs within families and relate the concepts of needs and work. Describe the home responsibilities of various family members. Use program prompts and symbols to create a product.
2nd Investigate the occupations within own neighborhood. Recognize the importance of personal responsibilities and work habits. Utilize software to produce a simple story, report, or letter.
3rd Examine a variety of occupations within own community and describe the benefits of educational achievement. Connect own classroom skills to the skills needed for success in the work place. Operate a variety of software menus and produce a simple word-processed document.
4th Locate and use career information within the state of Colorado. Identify necessary basic skills, thinking skills, and personal qualities for the work place. Navigate through a variety of software menus and produce a word-processed document.
5th Research information about careers of personal interest. List educational requirements, necessary skills and career options. Communicate an idea, using a computer graphics program.
6th Investigate aspects of career planning. Describe personal skills and qualities that apply to school and workplace. Operate a writing and publishing program.
7th Explore the interdependence of career planning and socioeconomic factors. Compare and contrast personal abilities and career options. Use a spreadsheet program.
8th Relate personal responsibility, good work habits, teamwork, and adaptability to seeking and obtaining jobs. Relate own decisions to education, training, and career goals. Utilize a database program.
HIGH SCHOOL Analyze several career clusters and occupational choices.

Correlate educational achievement and career goals.

Develop career plans based on informed choice, labor market information, assessment of interests and skills, occupational exploration, and work experience.

Examine affordability and availability of various types of apprentice programs, vocational programs, and college programs.
Describe the necessary ethical and personal skills and qualities needed for successful employment.

Compile the documents necessary to obtain a job.

Analyze personal needs as related to the areas of money management, technical reading, national economics, and career plans.
Demonstrate alphanumeric skills (touch keyboarding).

Produce functional computer documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, and multimedia applications.
