Construction Advisory Committee needs volunteers
The Board of Education is seeking volunteers for the Mapleton Citizen’s Construction Advisory Committee. Meetings will take place on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. No members may have an active or pending contract with the School District. Contact the Superintendent's Office at 303.853.1015, or click here for more information. Stay tuned for more information about the next meeting.
On November 2, 2010. Almost 58% of Mapleton's voters voted yes to the School District's bond measure.
"We are so thrilled with the results of the election!" says Superintendent Charlotte Ciancio. She adds, "We will be celebrating today, and sending our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who personally contacted voters to share our message. Thank you to the community and business leaders who really stepped up to support our work. Most of all, thank you to our students who were connected to us like never before. This win is for you!"
Teachers, parents, students and business leaders rallied together to generate support for the bond. This is the first bond win for Mapleton Public Schools since 1992.
The yes vote on 3A helped Mapleton raise the matching funds necessary to ensure the School District receives $32million in grant funding from Colorado's Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) program. The District was awarded $32 million in grant funds to address its critical facility needs. The generous matching grant is intended to greatly reduce the financial burden to families and businesses.
The yes vote on 3A sets off a flurry of activity for us in Mapleton. Teams will begin work immediately on the design process for the new Skyview Campus. The tentative schedule calls for a ground-breaking on the new campus and on York International's addition in spring 2011. It is anticipated that Mapleton's students will be moving into their new facilities by fall 2012.
