Live well, be well in Mapleton!

Walk Across the United States begins Monday, April 8th!

Register for Walk Across the United States!

What:

Walk Across the United States is a 6-week pedometer program that will challenge you to move more. You will count your steps and try to increase your daily activity as you "virtually" trek the United States. For more information on the Walk Across the United States challenge, click here!

When:

  • Registration - Monday, March 18, 2013 - Friday, April 5, 2013
  • Kick-off Week - Monday, April 8, 2013 - Friday, April 12, 2013
  • Walk Across the United States Monday, April 15, 2013 - Friday, May 17, 2013
How:
  • Form your teams and have the team captain register the team and all participants online at: https://sites.google.com/a/mapleton.us/walk-across-the-united-states/register/register-team
  • The participation fee is $5.00 per person.
  • Participants may purchase a Kaiser Permanente pedometer for an additonal $10.00 fee per pedometer (limited supplies distributed on a first-come, first-served basis).
  • Please send cash or check (payable to Mapleton Public Schools) to Wellness in Human Resources.
Please note: Your entire team must have paid participation and pedometer (if applicable) fees in order to have results recorded and to be eligible for weekly prizes.

Teams:

Form teams of 4 to 7 with one person appointed as team captain. The captain coordinates program details by registering the team and entering team steps each week online (very little work is involved). If you don't want to be part of a team, you may participate as an individual.
Prizes:
  • Weekly drawings - drawn randomly once per week for all participants of teams who report steps on time.
  • Rest stop prizes - prizes awarded to those who arrive at designated destinations on the map.
  • Traveling trophy - currently housed at Explore Elementary. The ultimate bragging rights!
  • Other great goodies along the way!
