Skyview students in the Skills/USA VICA club shone in the District Skills Competition at the Bollman Technical Education Center February 13. Students from Bollman TEC, Brighton High School and Skyview High School competed.
Beth Youtsey won a Gold medal for first place in Prepared Speech.
Beth Youtsey and Casey Huffman won a Bronze medal for third place in the Chapter Display competition.
Skyview swept Architectural Drafting, with Rafael Mendoza taking first place, Tony Aguilar taking second, Kenny Houston taking third, Yvonne Ramirez taking fourth, and Tom Zito taking fifth.
In the Job Skill Demonstration contest, which tests automotive tech skills, Kacey Turnbo took first place and Rodney Clark took second.
Skyview captured the first, second and third place spots in in the Job Interview competition with Chris Kauffman taking first place, Yvonne Ramirez taking second and Tony Aguilar taking third. Kaufmann also placed sixth in the Automotive Service Technology competition.
Vocational Industrial Clubs of America is a student organization designed to equip individuals with vocational and leadership skills. VICA is a local, state, national, and international organization. Skills USA-VICA is a national organization serving nearly 250,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations.
