Skyview High School student and Skills USA-VICA member Yvonne Ramirez won a silver medal in the job interview competition at the club's state conference in April.
Ramirez also competed in the Architectural Drafting with Tony Aguilar and Kenny Houston. Six Skills USA/VICA students from Skyview traveled to the state conference and skills competition held April 7 to April 9 at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton. SkillsUSAVICA's mission is "to help its members become world-class workers and responsible American citizens."
Tony Aguilar and Chris Kauffman also competed in Job Interview. Kacey Turnbo competed in Job Skill Demonstration A where he demonstrated the Testing and Assembly of an Alternator. Beth Youtsey competed in Prepared Speech and along with Kacey Turnbo competed in one of the Automotive Contests. Chris Kauffman, who won the Silver last year in Job Interview, is a graduating Senior and will be leaving the team.
"The rest
of the students earned a great deal of experience and plan to improve their
skills to go back again next year," said Bruce Fitzgerald, who sponsors
the Skills USA-VICA club in Mapleton.
