County School District No.1 |
Press Release For Immediate Release September 14, 2001 |
|
Parents will have the opportunity to meet with principals and staff to review the new state accountability reports in the coming weeks, school officials announced this week.
These reports, the contents of which were released Thursday this week, are produced by the state based on data the school district submits to the department of education, as required by Colorado law. Copies won't be available to schools until at least next week.
In spite of some obvious errors in some of the data in the reports, the information is a valuable beginning to understanding school achievement and accountability. They include information about school safety, how the district uses tax money, the qualifications of the teachers, student performance and a rating of the school on a bell curve relating to the average of the different grade levels' performance on the CSAP in different content areas.
Each site will host a a community forum about the new school accountability reports -- how the school uses the data in these reports and other indicators to chart the course for school improvement. There will also be time to address specific questions you may have about the report or how the information in it will affect the school's goals and planning.
For more information about the community forum at your site, please call the building principal.
