Press Release For Immediate Release November 14, 2001 |

Two school districts in Adams County are working together to provide the best programs possible and to save money by sharing specific services. Adams 14 in Commerce City and Mapleton Public Schools have added one more program to their current shared services agreement. In addition to purchasing and nutrition services, the two districts now share a vocational education coordinator.
Both districts
say sharing services is of mutual benefit, both in quality of programs and services
and dollars saved.
"This is a continuing effort to explore collaborative business opportunities," explains Adams 14's Chief Operating Officer Steve Pratt. "By partnering with Mapleton Public Schools on yet another program, both districts maximize the purchasing power of their funds, while reducing operating and administrative costs. The effect is a win-win situation for both the students and the taxpayers."
Don Herman, Mapleton's Chief Financial Officer agrees. "These agreements allow us to greatly reduce the expense of maintaining high quality vocational education, nutrition services and purchasing programs for our district. Teaming up on purchases helps us reduce costs through the economies of scale from big purchases on items both districts use. Also, sharing programs across two districts gives us a broader pool of people and skills to draw on."
The vocational education coordinator from Adams 14 will provide consulting and management services that will allow both districts to address the needs of students. The districts share the cost of these services.
This is the latest addition to the shared service agreement which began in 1995 with shared nutrition services. This original agreement served as a model for an agreement for shared purchasing services, which was approved in 1997.
