Teletech's Thornton staff help
get Mapleton students off to a smooth start

Staff from the 650-employee Thornton office of Teletech chipped in over 1,500 school supplies to help get students attending Mapleton Public Schools off to a strong start to the 2001-2002 school year.

"With many of our employees' children attending schools within the Mapleton school district, we wanted to assist in sending children of our local community back to school with the supplies they need to learn and grow," said supply drive organizer Roberta Salazar.

Salazar, with Janise Bielher-Moore, Sandra Shields and the Thornton office's Rising Star committee, held a supply drive from August 1 to August 10, yielding protractors, glue, pencils, crayons and a lot more - all the tools young students need.

"They called us and asked what our students need to get going this year," said Charlotte Scarpella, the Mapleton superintendent. "We sent them our supply lists, and they really came through."

Scarpella said the supplies were divided up evenly among the district's six elementary schools.

"It's great for our staff and kids to know that this community supports them," Scarpella added.
