Adventure Elementary at Western Hills (K-6)
"Discover the Basics"
Adventure Elementary School is an inclusive community of
ambitious scholars dedicated exploratory learning. With dolphins as their
mascot, students at Adventure Elementary follow OCEAN behavior standards - cOurage, Compassion, Excellence, Accountability and iNtegrity. Students spend much of their time engaged in learning expeditions: in-depth studies
of relevant and current social and scientific topics. Students use fieldwork and
service learning projects to actively engage in their education. To foster a
culture of respect and high standards, character development is intentionally
taught and modeled at all grade levels. Students are encouraged to become an
avid contributor to their community through a system characterized by high
expectations for all with a focus on constant improvement. Students are exposed
to rigorous academic experiences that inspire them to consider multiple
perspectives, think critically, and demonstrate real understanding. Students at
Adventure Elementary celebrate each other's achievements at Caring Crew
assemblies hosted by the Student Council. Awards are presented to outstanding
staff members and students. At Adventure, a student's work focuses on craftsmanship.
Portfolios are created throughout the school year so students can learn the
values of assessment, feedback and revision.
