North Valley School for Young Adults
Mapleton is now offering young adults a new educational pathway to success. North Valley School for Young Adults provides students ages 18-20 a chance to receive a high school diploma and the opportunity to earn college credit.
The mission of North Valley School for Young Adults, a small, flexible learning community committed to the individual success of Mapleton's young adults, is to guarantee our students acquire the academic skills, personal qualities, and confidence necessary to excel throughout life by using a specialized learning approach characterized by:
North Valley is characterized by:
- compelling options that lead to accelerated learning
- a climate and culture built upon genuine relationships, respect, integrity, and personal accountability
- an uncompromising commitment to persistence and perseverance
- engaging and relevant learning structures and opportunities
- individualized support systems designed to remove barriers to success.
At North Valley School, students will build both academic and personal skills to prepare them for college or a career. Along with the required graduation coursework, students will also be supported with "perseverance" classes to learn academic and career preparation, and how to handle the balancing act created by school, work and family. Individual discussions with the student and/or sponsor are expected.
At North Valley, progress monitoring for academic and personal goals is a part of the academic routine. Consistency in goal setting and adjusting the plan according to the student's needs is continual. Students who are eligible for enrollment into North Valley can also be considered for the Gateway to College program at Front Range Community College. Applicants will compete for the Gateway to College scholarships that will cover tuition and books. Applications can be picked up from any North Valley enrollment representative.
