"Project-based, Technology-driven Learning"

Welby New Technology supports a one-to-one student-to-computer ratio and integrates technology into the mastery of the core subjects of English, social studies, science and math. At Welby, students are encouraged to use technology as a tool to prepare them for any career. The New Tech facility reflects forward thinking through the use of modern technological systems, devoted staff members, and college readiness. But don't be fooled by the name. Students at Welby New Technology are expected to achieve academic success both with and without a computer. Students refine their public speaking skills by completing oral presentations several times throughout the year. Students are also held to high standards when it comes to putting a pen to paper. The mastery of written communication skills is emphasized in all of the work completed by Welby students. Teachers incorporate real life learning into the core curriculum to help students retain the lessons being taught. As one student discovered, the lessons learned at Welby supplied her with the tools for any career and gave her the advantages she needed to get ahead in the workforce.

Welby New Technology is characterized by:

  • Devotion to students achieving academic success and becoming college ready.
  • A one-to-one student-to-computer ratio.
  • Mastery of the core subjects of English, social studies, science and math.
  • Honors courses and access to college courses prior to graduation.
  • Use of the Internet and other software applications on a daily basis as a tool for learning, communication and collaboration.
