York International After-School and Before-School Programs
York's 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant provides students and families with interactive and FREE out-of-school time activities. Every program provides free snacks for students as well! See below for an overview of current program offerings both before and after school.
Please note that all programs (except Books & Breakfast) require registration prior to the start date and drop-ins will not be able to join. All programs require a commitment to attend every session.
To register your student for a program, please see the registration date and use the link to fill out an application! Registration will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

Books & Breakfast
Wednesdays 7:00am-8:00am | September 11-December 18 & January 15-May 13 | All Students
Books & Breakfast (previously Books & Bagels) is a great opportunity for all students and families to come start their day in a quiet, cozy environment. All students that attend will get breakfast and are able to check books out if they wish. Every week, we will have a different book read aloud, while utilizing our Lucy Calkins “reading habits.” Be sure to come before 7:15 a.m.!

Think 360 Arts + Yoga/Mindfulness
Tuesdays 3:30pm-5:30pm | September 3-December 17 & January 14-May 12 | K-5th grades
Students experience two programs in one session for this program! Think 360 Arts will work with a visiting artist to provide an interactive art workshop that aims at students expressing themselves in a playful and creative way! The Yoga/Mindfulness program teaches an array of concepts, postures and mindfulness techniques based on age, interests and environment. Students will be split into a K-2nd grade group and a 3rd-5th grade group and will experience both programs!

Cooking Matters Family Cooking Class
Wednesdays 3:30pm-5:30pm | September 4-October 23 & February 19-April 15 | 1st-5th grades (if younger sibling is aged 0-5)
Do you have a child aged 0-5 and want to cook more as a family? Then this class is for you! Bring your child aged 6+ to learn how to shop smarter by using nutritional information, make healthier choices, all while cooking delicious, affordable meals! This six-week course is a great way to get the whole family involved in cooking and food choices!

Colorado Educational Theatre Program + Junior Achievement
Thursdays 3:30pm-5:30pm | September 5-December 19 & January 16-May 14 | K-5th grades
Students will experience two programs in one session! In the Colorado Educational Theatre Program (CET), students will work together to create original plays based on students’ dreams, ideas, and imaginations! Professional actors teach theatre games and exercises that build creativity, thinking skills, communication, and teamwork abilities. Students will learn about acting and elements of a play, then use their skills to bring stories to life. CET supports learning in language arts, literature, and social development. The Junior Achievement program fosters work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and students will use experiential learning to dream big and reach their potential. Students will be split into a K-2nd grade group and a 3rd-5th grade group and will experience both programs!

Girls On The Run
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30pm-5:00pm | September 10-November 14 | 3rd-5th grade girls
Girls On The Run utilizes socio-emotional and physical skills to provide our 3rd-5th-grade girls the tools they need to build up their confidence and practice running a 5K race in November!

Playworks Junior Coach Leadership Program
1 Wednesday per month 3:30pm-5:30pm | October 23-April 29 | K-5th grades
At York, we believe that students should take ownership of their own behavior and be role models for all students and our greater community. Our Playworks Junior Coaches directly model this philosophy. 4th-5th grade Junior Coaches meet every three weeks with Playworks Coach S to discuss ideas for conflict resolution, playing safely, and building confidence in all. The Junior Coaches are then implementing what they have learned at a recess during the school day.
Registration will be based on applications done in class the week of August 25thand selected by teachers.
Playworks Co-Ed Floor Hockey League
Mondays & Tuesdays 3:30pm-4:30pm | October 7-November 19 | 3rd-5th grades
The York International floor hockey team prides itself in its partnership with the Denver Avalanche hockey team! All members of the team will receive a free hockey stick, ball, and jersey! The hockey team practices at York International on Mondays and plays against other teams in the district on Tuesdays at Meadow Community School.

Playworks Co-Ed Volleyball League
Mondays & Tuesdays 3:30pm-4:30pm | January 13-February 24 | 3rd-5th grades
Our 3rd-5th grade Playworks Volleyball League brings students together both on and off the court. Volleyball enables our students to communicate and socialize with others in a new way and provides a huge stepping stone for inclusiveness, safety, and confidence for all students. The volleyball team practices at York International on Mondays and plays against other teams in the district on Tuesdays at Meadow Community School.

Playworks Girls' Basketball League
Mondays & Tuesdays 3:30pm-4:30pm | April 6-May 12 | 3rd-5th grades
Participate in an after-school program, try a new sport, be on a team, practice teamwork, sportsmanship, and have fun! The girls’ basketball team practices at York International on Mondays and plays against other teams in the district on Tuesdays at Meadow Community School.
