Mapleton Board of Education
The Mapleton Board of Education comprises five elected community volunteers who work many hours each year to represent the community and lead the District.
Elected by voters from within Mapleton, the board approves the district curriculum, instructional materials, and annual budget. The board acts in accordance with Colorado and federal laws while remaining responsive to the unique needs of the Mapleton community.
The Board of Education Business Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, will be conducted online for the health and safety of our staff, families, and community.
Cynthia Croisant, President | District D, Term Expires 2023
Ms. Croisant was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in November 2015, after previously serving as a Mapleton School Board member from 2003-2011. She works as an IT Manager in the applications development department for Firstbank Data Corp. She has lived in the Mapleton community for more than 50 years. Cindy is a Mapleton graduate and her daughter, Nicole, graduated from Skyview High School.
Thomas Moe, Vice President|At Large, Term Expires 2021
Mr. Moe was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in 2017. He retired after working more than thirty years in the Consulting Engineering business where a good portion of his focus was on designing primary and secondary schools to be safe and productive learning environments for students. He has lived in the Mapleton Public Schools district for three years
Sheila Montoya, Secretary|At Large, Term Expires 2021
Ms. Montoya was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in November 2013. She works for the State of Colorado Judicial Branch. Ms. Montoya has lived in the Mapleton community for 30 years. She has two children who attend Mapleton schools. Ms. Montoya believes serving on the Mapleton Public Schools Board of Education will allow her the opportunity to give back to her community on a different level.
Steve Donnell, Treasurer|At Large, Term Expires 2021
Mr. Donnell was elected to the Mapleton Board of Education in November 2013. He retired from the Civil Service after a thirty-year career. He was the Deputy Director of Air Force military pay and a certified public accountant. Mr. Donnell and his wife have lived in the Mapleton community for more than 38 years. They have two children who both attended Mapleton schools.
Patty Velasquez, Asst. Secretary/Treasurer|District B, Term Expires 2021
Ms. Velasquez was appointed to the Mapleton Board of Education in November 2019. She works as a Program Manager for the Family Resource Center Association where she supports effective implementation and scaling of evidence base-informed practices. Her work focuses on improving programs and services that impact outcomes for families and communities. Ms. Velasquez has lived in the Mapleton community for 7 years. She has two children who attend Mapleton schools.
