Middle School Sports Cancelled Through 2020
Due to the current circumstances with the COVID-19 health concerns, Mapleton Public Schools has decided to cancel all middle school sports through the remainder of the 2020 calendar year. This includes football, boys soccer, girls volleyball, and boys basketball. A decision will be made at a later date regarding sports in the second half of the school year.
Middle School Spring Sports Season Cancelled
For those students who have already registered and paid for a spring season sport, we will be refunding the fees when we return to school. To expedite the process, please bring your receipt that was given to you when you registered.
Mapleton Public Schools is proud to provide athletic opportunities for our 7th and 8th-grade students. Below is a list of the available sports for middle school.
Early Fall Sports:
Late Fall Sport:
Track & Field
Middle School school teams practice everyday, Monday-Friday after school. Practices normally go from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Football and Track both come to the Skyview Campus, while Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer are at Global or York (depending on your students school).
2019-2020 Middle School Boys Soccer
Any middle school boys planning on playing boys soccer need to be aware that starting the 2019-2020 school year, middle school boys soccer will become a Fall sport. In the past, Mapleton Public Schools has ran the boys soccer season in the spring season. However, due to the middle school league we are currently in, boys soccer will be moved to the Fall. Please be aware that this season runs at the same time as middle school football. If you have played both sports in the past, unfortunately you will have to choose one or the other.
Middle School Teams
Due to the size of our middle school student body, some sport requires more that one team. Football and Track & Field will come together as one district team. However, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Soccer, and Girls Soccer split into two teams call Global Black and York Silver. Four schools practice and compete at York International will the other four school practice an compete at the Global Campus.
In addition to the schools split, teams will also be separated into two "skills" based teams. The "A" team will be made up of those players that have skills in the sport, while the "B" team is the developing team, meant for those who are still building their skill in the sport.
Below is the list for the school separation:
