  • UPDATE - July 2018

Posted by Andy Leapley on 7/16/2018

The Schematic Design package for Explore PK-8 was submitted on June 26 and is currently being reviewed by Mapleton and NV5. The general site plan and building floorplan has been established; however, modifications are still being made as design progresses and further District input is received.
The contract with the design-build team has been signed.  JHL is currently preparing preliminary pricing on the SD set for review on July 11 and July 18.  A committed construction schedule will also be presented in that time frame as well.  The construction schedule is dependent on discussions with the City of Thornton as to what construction activities will be allowed prior to finalization of an IGA or similar document between the City and the District.
The overall project budget has not changed, and Owner Contingency appear adequate at this time.

    Explore PreK-8 Design/Build team selected!

The Board of Education and Mapleton administrators have selected the design/build team of JHL Constructors and Hord|Colpan|Macht (HCM) Architects to design the PreK-8 school building that will be constructed on the property at 104th Avenue and York Street. This building will be designed to reflect the heritage of Colorado farming and ranching in the area. Hint: The school may look like a barn! Planning and design will take place over the summer.
