High School Academic Eligibility
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) requires students to meet personal behavior and academic performance standards for participation in interscholastic activities at the high school level. General eligibility guidelines are as follows:
Weekly Grade Checks
Each high school will monitor a student athlete's grade and report the information to the Athletic Director each week. The number of classes required to pass depends on the number of classes taken.
- If your school offers 4 classes, the student athlete must be passing at least 3
- If your school offers 6 classes, the student athlete must be passing at least 5
- If your school offers 7+ classes, the student athlete must be passing at least 5
Eligibility reports are pulled around noon each Friday. If a student does not meet the weekly grade check eligibility standard, the student is prohibited from participating in all competitions for the following week. Students can not regain eligibility during the week they are ineligible.
In addition to weekly grade checks, a student must have passed 2.5 Carnegie units of credit each semester or trimester.
If a student does not meet the semester/trimester standard, the student is prohibited from participating in a competition for approximately the first six weeks of the following semester.
