North Valley English
About the English Classroom
In the English classroom, Ms. Eichert challenges students to think for themselves. The classes focus on looking at themes in literature and how we as humans reflect on those universal themes. Daily classes include a bit of each of the English Standards so that students can see how language can be used in so many different ways. In addition to having traditional Language Arts curriculum, Ms. Eichert adds her own flair by providing students with hands-on opportunities to really “experience” language arts and apply it to real-world practices.
Ms. Eichert is the veteran of all of the North Valley teachers having taught for the last 15 years in Mapleton. She is originally from New Jersey. She attended the University of Vermont in 1996 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in English. After living in Boulder for a few years, she decided to return to school and get her Master’s in Secondary Education from Seton Hall University. In 2015, she started working at John Dewey Middle School, where she was the 7th-grade communications teacher. She continued working there after John Dewey became Global Leadership Academy until 2010 when North Valley opened. She joined North Valley staff and students, as an ELL lead and primary English teacher.
