The master plan was created with the help of outdoor education experts, partner organizations, students, families, staff and community members. The 2.8 acres of open spaces surrounding Welby's school building will feature demonstration gardens, outdoor classrooms, and a history walk. These additions will enrich learning experiences for all children and closely align with the school’s Expeditionary Learning model.

- Communication with the North Washington Water and Sanitation District to review their sewer easement access route is on-going.
- Native seeding and remaining plantings are scheduled for spring 2020.

- The signage for the entryway is finished and site signage plaques are being installed.
- Native seeding and remaining plantings are scheduled for spring 2020.
- The learning park is scheduled to be mostly complete by the end of December 2019.

UPDATE – Nov. 5, 2019
Posted by Andy Leapley on 11/5/2019- The Welby Learning Park now has an entryway! Beginning on the northeast side of the park, visitors will walk through a large wooden archway that leads to 2.8 acres of Expeditionary learning opportunities.
- Near the treehouse, crews have begun to place the steel bridge ramp leading up to the classroom space.
- The learning park is scheduled to be completed by the end of November!
