    Mapleton’s college and career-going culture is supported by rigorous graduation requirements designed to guarantee all Mapleton students achieve their dreams.

    According to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), jobs that require training beyond high school are growing three times as fast as jobs that require only a high school diploma. Colorado’s graduation guidelines serve as a road map to help students and families realize post-secondary success.

     

    The following criteria shall entitle a student to a high school diploma from Mapleton Public Schools:

    • Achievement in academic content standards as demonstrated by mastery of the curriculum
    • Successful completion of 22 credits
    • Knowledge demonstration of academic proficiency in English and math using Mapleton’s Menu of College and Career-Ready Demonstrations

     To receive a high school diploma from Mapleton Public Schools, all students must meet or exceed the district’s academic standards.

     

    District-wide Coursework Requirements for Graduating Classes of 2018, 2019, and 2020

    • English: 4 credits
    • Mathematics: 4 credits
    • Natural/Physical Science: 4 credits
    • Social Studies: 3 credits
    • Foreign Languages: 1 credit
    • Physical Education: 1 credit
    • Academic Electives: 5.5 credits
    • Capstone: .5 credit
    • Total credits: 22

    Mapleton students graduating in and after 2021 must meet or exceed the new graduation requirements:

    • English: 4 credits
    • Mathematics: 3 credits
    • Natural/Physical Science: 4 credits
    • Social Studies: 3 credits
    • Foreign Languages: 1 credit
    • Physical Education: 1 credit
    • Academic Electives: 4.5 credits
    • Capstone: .5 credit
    • Total credits: 22

    Mapleton’s Menu of College and Career-Ready Demonstrations

    Beginning with the graduating class of 2021, students must complete at least one of the following measures and meet or exceed the measure’s corresponding cut score or criteria to demonstrate college and career readiness in English and math.

     

    • ACCUPLACER | 62/Reading Comprehension, 61/Elementary Algebra
    • ACT | At least 18 on English, at least 19 on math
    • ACT – Work Keys – National | Bronze (3) or higher in English and math
    • Advanced Placement (AP) | Score of at least 2 in English and math
    • Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) | Score at least in the 31st percentile in English and math
    • Concurrent Enrollment | Passing grade per district and higher education policy, English and math
    • District Capstone | Individualized
    • Industry Certificate | Individualized
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) | Score of 4 in English and math
    • SAT | Score of at least 470 in English, Score of at least 500 in math
    • Collaboratively-developed, standards-based performance assessment | State-wide scoring criteria
