It's Science Fair Time!
Posted by Sarah Kopperud on 3/3/2021We are excited to announce the Mapleton Science Fair! The Science Fair is open to any interested student in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Fair season beings Friday, March 5.
This year, the Science Fair will be completely virtual. Students will still be able to research, create experiments, and have fun learning about science, but they will display their work entirely online. To show what they learned, the students will create online presentations in the form of Google Slides and a 1-2 minute video. These slide shows and videos will be shown on the Mapleton website.
Mr. Murphy is the Fair Coordinator so interested students should sign up here and contact Mr. Murphy with any questions.

Winter Enrollment Confirmation
Posted by Sarah Kopperud on 12/14/2020Cuestionario de inscripción en español
------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your partnership and support as we finish out 2020 at Trailside Academy. We appreciate your responses to the district survey in November; your response to this survey confirms your enrollment placement starting January 11. To help us prepare for your child’s return, please confirm the following information with us no later than 8 am on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. Please complete this questionnaire for each child in grades K through 8 that attends Trailside Academy. Descriptions for both school options are below, and all final details are dependent upon enrollment requests and will be available by January 8.
**Trailside In-Person: Students learn in the building with their class and teacher from first semester. Hours remain unchanged, 7:45-2:55.
**Trailside Remote: Students watch recorded instruction, complete assignments electronically, and participate in virtual groups with what will likely be a different teacher(s) than 1st semester. Students participate in school between 7:45 and 2:55.
If you have questions or would like to discuss this decision, please contact Jessie Massey (303.853.3041, masseyj@mapleton.us) or Sarah Kopperud (303.853.3042, kopperuds@mapleton.us).
The survey's deadline is 8am on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Trailside Celebrates Halloween!
Posted by Sarah Kopperud on 10/29/2020Timberwolves will celebrate Halloween at school on Friday, October 30.
Students can wear a Halloween costume to school on Friday,10/30. This year we will not be able to help students with costume changes.
Students can also bring an individual, pre-packaged store-bought treat to enjoy during the day. We cannot allow sharing food or homemade treats this year.
Visitors will not be allowed to join us this year.
Because we are a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school, it is important that we have rules for costumes:
- Costumes should not be a one-piece outfit that limits bathroom use. Students need to be able to independently use the bathroom in their costume.
- Students may not wear Halloween masks while at school. They will still be required to wear their face mask for COVID-19 safety.
- Students may not wear face paint.
- Students may not bring weapons (fake or real) to school.
- We don’t want to scare our little ones, so, we ask that students not use liquid or “fake” blood.
- We also ask that students do not bring spray cans (hair color or body glitter, etc) to school.
If you prefer your student not participate in Halloween activities, please contact your student’s teacher by Wednesday, October 28th.
