Mapleton's Homeless Liaison
If you find yourself experiencing a transition in your housing situation, you may qualify for additional support. Please reach out to Mapleton's Homeless Liaison at 303.853.1409. “Homeless” doesn’t just mean living on the street or in a shelter. Many who may not even realize it may qualify for support through a Federal Law. Families may qualify for free school lunches, waived school fees and more through a Federal Act called the McKinney Vento Act. The following “homeless” qualifications are identified through the McKinney Vento Act:
- Doubled up with family or friends due to financial need
- In a shelter
- In a car, under a bridge, in a tent
- In a motel, campground, hotel
- In an abandoned building, park, bus or train station
- “Substandard living:" poor quality of living, no water, no heat, no electricity, etc.
Housing – Agencies for housing with minimal or no cost rent for those qualified.
