Mr. Nicholas Johnson
Mr. Nicholas Johnson received his Bachelor of Music Performance and Bachelor of Music Education in 2020 from the University of Colorado, Boulder. As a cellist, Mr. Johnson has performed with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra, University of Colorado Philharmonia Orchestra, Insolitam Clarinet Quintet, and Montis String Quartet. He has performed at the 2018 CMEA conference, as well as in master classes conducted by Mark Kosower, Principal Cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra, David Morris, cellist of the Quicksilver Ensemble, and Norbert Lewandowski, Principal Cellist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Johnson also enjoys performing on Clarinet, his secondary instrument. He has performed in the University of Colorado Golden Buffalo Marching Band, with performances at the 2016 PAC-12 Championship, and 2016 Alamo Bowl, as well as in the University of Colorado Campus Band, with opportunities to work with the renowned wind band composer David Maslanka.
Mr. Johnson is an avid teacher in the state of Colorado, where he now teaches orchestra at several schools in Mapleton Public Schools District. In addition to his time in Mapleton Public Schools, he has worked with the Arvada West High School Marching Band, University of Colorado Middle School Ensemble Program, University of Colorado Middle School Summer Music Academy, and Colorado Honor Band Association, as well as teaching cello and clarinet sectionals alongside string orchestra classes in schools across the state.
In his spare time, Mr. Johnson enjoys hiking, backpacking, and camping across the United States, international travel of any sort, and reading books of all genres from sci-fi to historical fiction.
