Mapleton Public Schools

Family, Parent, and Community Engagement

In Mapleton, we believe our families are our best partners in achieving academic excellence. As a parent, you are the primary leader and advocate for your child’s success. We believe there are many valuable ways you can get involved in your child’s education and we will work with you to develop a rich, meaningful, and academic level of engagement with your child’s school.

Committee Involvement

School Accountability Committee

Each School Accountability Committee (SAC) is an advisory committee composed of parents, community leaders, directors, and teachers who meet and discuss topics of vital importance to their individual school. The SAC makes a recommendation to the director regarding how the school should spend money, engage parents, create strategies for success, and any other areas or issues that affect the function of the school and the success of students. This important committee meets regularly throughout the school year and is a critical component in the oversight of the school and success of students and staff. Contact your school directly for more information about its School Accountability Committee.

District Accountability Committee

The District Accountability Committee (DAC) meets monthly throughout the year and makes recommendations to the Mapleton Public Schools Board of Education regarding spending district money, improvement plans and parent engagement plans. DAC members also make recommendations for areas and issues for study, as well as teacher and director assessment tools. This committee collects feedback from and provides information to the SAC.

PTO

Parent-led organizations, such as PTOs, are member chapters of the Mapleton Education Foundation. They activate fundraising and parent support for their school or program, creating new opportunities for students. A site-based volunteer committee representing the parents, staff, administration, and community manages each school Chapter. The Mapleton Education Foundation provides financial infrastructure, insurance, bookkeeping, and 501(c)(3) oversight.
