Strategic Plan - Project LIFT

  • It is our mission in Mapleton Public Schools to guarantee all students can achieve their dreams. This deep commitment to the academic success of each student drives our work, while our sharp focus on improving achievement motivates us to identify and implement best practices in the classroom.

    All schools in Mapleton are accelerating excellence through Project L.I.F.T. - Leveraging Instruction for Transformation. Project L.I.F.T. includes the district’s accreditation through Cognia and our collaboration with the University of Virginia’s Partnership for Leaders in Education program. The work of Project L.I.F.T. is elevating Mapleton’s practices in four key areas: Leadership, Support and Accountability, Talent Management, and Instructional Infrastructure.

    Cognia Global Commission is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts external reviews of school systems across the globe. Cognia’s international accreditation process focuses on instruction and the structures essential for improvement and complements the Colorado Department of Education’s accreditation process.

    For our evaluation, Cognia compared Mapleton to a set of rigorous, research-based standards. The review found that we have all the essential structures for improvement in place! In fact, Mapleton earned one of the highest accreditation scores in Cognia history!

    Essential structures for improvement you will begin to see, or perhaps already notice in your child’s classroom include:

    • Meaningful instructional resources and support structures
    • Simple and effective improvement strategies tailored to the needs of each student
    • A culture of high expectations for staff and students
    • A balanced system of assessments to evaluate effective data-driven instruction

    Academic improvement in our school is also driven by a 90-day action plan – specific priorities and actions that will be implemented and evaluated every 90 days to assure the structures we have in place are leading to the improvements we need to see in our schools.
