Meadow Community School PK-8
Turn Out the Lights at Meadow Community School
Join us at Meadow Community School on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 5-6:30 p.m. for a special “Turn Out the Lights” celebration. As we prepare to open the brand-new Meadow Community School, we’ll take a moment to honor the current building, which has served generations of students since 1962. Guests are invited to walk the halls one last time before the building is retired and demolished. If you have fond memories or pictures you'd like to share before the event, please send them to communications@mapleton.us.
The new building, made possible by community support and a $13 million BEST grant, will provide a modern, nature-inspired learning space for preschool through eighth grade students.
Save the date! The ribbon cutting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m.!
Meadow Community School Rebuild
Meadow Community School was originally constructed in 1962 as a K-5 and has only received necessary and modest improvements.
The new building design addresses many of the site safety and security issues and allows Meadow to fully embrace its nature and science model by presenting meaningful and numerous opportunities for students to interact with the outdoors, through forest-like courtyards and windows and natural light throughout the building. The new school building will also welcome the return of the preschool program.
Meadow staff and district leadership meet weekly with teams from Sampson Construction and RB+B Architects to dream big and brainstorm exciting and innovative design possibilities. We are seeking parents, community members, business owners, and other district stakeholders to help us oversee the success of our capital improvement projects by joining our Construction Advisory Committee
Objectives for the Construction Advisory Committee include:
- Reviewing and commenting on the progress and status of current construction projects,
- Providing input to the Board concerning the needs for future projects,
- Reviewing and commenting on project priorities for current and future projects, and
- Reviewing and commenting on budget implications of current and future projects.
If you want to join Mapleton's Construction Advisory Committee team, please complete this form to help us plan our first meeting.
