  • Walk-in preschool enrollment is now available!

Families interested in full or half-day preschool for their 3 or 4-year-olds may now walk into the Welcome Center to begin the enrollment process. The Welcome Center is located on the Skyview Campus, 8990 York St., Thornton, 80229, and is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

For the 2023-24 school year, all parents and caregivers, regardless of income, county, or school district, MUST APPLY for a preschool spot using the Universal Preschool Program (UPK) family portal from the state. This includes:

    • New families
    • Returning families
    • Mapleton employees

Your child will be matched to a preschool program through the UPK system. After you receive your match from the UPK system, you must accept or decline the match to continue the enrollment process. This process may take up to four weeks.

Watch this video to learn more about the matching process.

    What is Universal Preschool?

Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) will fund up to 15 hours per week of high-quality, voluntary preschool for every child four years of age by October 1 in Colorado for the year before entering kindergarten. In addition to the free half-day preschool for all 4-year-olds, UPK supports additional hours for 4-year-old students and part-time preschool for 3-year-olds with qualifying factors.
