At Monterey, we are a community of resilient learners dedicated to growing confident and capable leaders, by developing students who articulate thoughts and effectively use language to communicate ideas, in order to positively impact our community in a school characterized by:

Reading, writing, math, science, social studies instruction is delivered within a Standards Based model driven by the Colorado Academic Standards and supported by district curriculum. In sixth, seventh and eighth grades, students fully explore these topics in-depth every day.
Art, Music, and Physical Education are a regular part of students’ instructional day for 55 minutes daily Additionally, Monterey teachers also focus on social-emotional development through the Second Step program that teaches students in developing: lasting friendships, resilience, collaboration, conflict resolution and problem solving skills 30 minutes each school day.
Monterey’s families are always welcome as an integral part of our community school. We partner to participate in community events where staff and families can exchange ideas and work together to support our students. Events include: Back to School Night, Fall / Spring Carnivals, movie nights, middle school dances, field trips, Field Day, concerts, Career X, co-curricular clubs, 8th grade continuation and Kindergarten celebration.
