  • Wrestling Season Cancelled

Due to the criteria and expectations that CHSAA issued recently, Mapleton Public Schools has made the decision to not participate in the upcoming Boys or Girls Wrestling season.

At this time, this is the only sport that has been cancelled of the remaining three seasons. We are still awaiting the criteria, expectations, and decisions regarding the other sports in Seasons B, C, and/or D. If you have any questions, please contact Susan Gerhart, 303-853-1248.

Message regarding Football for the 2020-2021 Year

In accordance with the CHSAA decision for football to be held in the Fall or Spring, Skyview High/Mapleton will participate in the Spring season. Please refer to the CHSAA website for those dates.

Message regarding CHSAA 2020-2021 Activities Calendar

Attached here is the calendar that CHSAA has put in place for the 2020-2021 school year. The seasons are now called A, B, C, D. The dates of each season has changed, the number of competitions has been decreased, and some sports have been moved to different times of the year.

Mapleton/Skyview High will not have any sports for the A (Fall) season. These sports include Softball, Cross Country, and Cheerleading. We are hopeful that we can resume sports for the B, C, & D seasons beginning January 4, 2021, but that will all be depending on what is going on at that time with COVID-19. The Athletics Dept. will be posting this on their athletic page. We will also be working to reschedule all competitions for these next seasons as per the guidelines set forth by our League and CHSAA.

Above is the link to CHSAA announcement made on August 4th, 2020. Additionally there is a link to view the schedule for the CHSAA website. Also, as previously stated, middle school sports are cancelled for the first semester; resuming them will also be dependent on the COVID-19 situation.

  • Message from Mapleton Public Schools

    Dear Mapleton Families:

While we are reopening our schools, we will not be reopening our athletics, performing arts, or Air Force JROTC programs until our students can more safely interact. Additionally, middle school fall sports are canceled.

The first phase of our reopening plan calls for limiting the interactions our students and staff have among and between cohorts. The smaller school cohorts will assure a more protected environment where we can monitor the health of those within the cohort.  Our high school and middle school athletics, performing arts, and JROTC programs bring students from all seven high schools together and potentially cross-contaminate these intentionally smaller school cohorts.

The most pressing matter is to get our schools open. Once open, we will be able to monitor the effectiveness of other precautionary measures and help us determine when we can safely resume these important and valuable experiences.

We know this is very disappointing news. Please know that this is a temporary situation. We value the benefits of these programs and are committed to getting them reopened. We are also committed to finding other engaging opportunities for our students to socially connect while staying physically distant.

Again, this a temporary measure as the first phase of our reopening plan is to get back to school. We will resume these activities in the next phase of our plan. We thank you for your patience and continued support of Mapleton Public Schools.

Middle School Sports Cancelled Through 2020

Due to the current circumstances with the COVID-19 health concerns, Mapleton Public Schools has decided to cancel all middle school sports through the remainder of the 2020 calendar year. This includes football, boys soccer, girls volleyball, and boys basketball. A decision will be made at a later date regarding sports in the second half of the school year.

    Spring Season Registration Refund

Due to the loss of the spring season due to COVID-19, if you registered and paid for a spring sport you will have two options regarding your registration fee. The first option is if you are a current 9th through 11th grader and plan on playing a sport next year, you have the option to transfer your fee from this year’s spring season to a sport next year. The second option is to simply get a refund. This option is for current 12th graders or individuals not planning on playing a sport next year. Both options will be handled after the district reopens and we return to normal operations. For those who paid for Middle School registration, we will provide a refund. If you paid with a check that has not been deposited yet, we will not cash the check.

    Returning Uniforms

For those athletes that were given a uniforms/gear during any season this year, you will still be expected to return the uniform. Students are responsible for taking care of all uniforms/gear and will need to return everything upon us returning to normal operations. Any students who do not return uniforms/gear will not be allowed to register for another sport until you return all materials. For current 12th graders, please find a time after the district reopens to return any uniforms/gear.

For those of you that purchased pictures for the Winter Season and have yet to receive them, we want to assure you that we have the pictures. However, due to the closure of school buildings and the cancelations of banquets, we were unable to hand them out. Upon us returning to our offices, we will come up with a plan to get the pictures out.

Please be aware that with everything above, we are still in the planning stages. When we get closer to business as usual, we will provide a more detailed plan and explanation on how everything will occur. We thank you for your patience in the unusual time. Take care and stay safe!
