Pre-registration (New!)

Colorado UPK is introducing a new pre-registration process to assist families already connected to Mapleton Public Schools. Families already connected to Mapleton Public Schools should not complete a new UPK application for the 2024-25 school year.

Pre-registration applies to families that meet any of the following criteria:

  • Families with children returning to a Mapleton preschool program.
  • Families with children currently enrolled in Mapleton Public Schools.
  • Families new to Mapleton enrolling a preschool student and other siblings.
  • Employees of Mapleton Public Schools.
  • 3-year-old and 4-year-old students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Pre-registration steps:

  • Step 1: Complete the Annual Update (current families) or complete a new online enrollment application through Mapleton's online enrollment portal.
  • Step 2: Watch your email for special individual link from UPK to confirm your enrollment in Mapleton Public Schools.
  • Step 3: Join us for a playdate! Dates and locations will be available soon.

New-to-district 4-year-olds

If you are new to Mapleton and only enrolling a new preschool student, please following the process below:

Step 1: Complete your online application for enrollment through Infinite Campus and select your preschool program of choice. Your information will then be reviewed by Mapleton's Early Childhood Education team.

Step 2: Register with Colorado Universal Preschool. Once the Colorado Universal Preschool portal opens for the 2024-25 school year, submit your application with Colorado UPK. Be sure to select the same school on your Mapleton application and your UPK application.

Preschool for 3-year-olds

Families of 3-year-old students may enroll in a tuition or UPK funded spot.  Limited state funds are available to support three-year olds with a qualifying factor.  View UPK's Qualifying Factors on the Colorado Department of Early Childhood's UPK website.

UPK Qualifying 3-year old pre-registration steps:

  • Step 1: Families with current Mapleton students complete the Annual Update and add a new student. Families new to Mapleton complete a new online enrollment application through the online enrollment portal.
  • Step 2: Watch your email for your child's acceptance into Mapleton Public Schools.  UPK applications are no longer required for 3-year-olds.
  • Step 3: Join us for a playdate! Dates and locations will be available soon.

Families of 3-year-olds without any qualifying factors may apply for Mapleton Public Schools Early Childhood Education Tuition Program.

2023-24 Preschool Enrollment

Families interested in full or half-day preschool for their 3 or 4-year-olds may now walk into the Welcome Center to begin the enrollment process. The Welcome Center is located on the Skyview Campus, 8990 York St., Thornton, 80229, and is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

For the 2023-24 school year, all parents and caregivers, regardless of income, county, or school district, MUST APPLY for a preschool spot using the Universal Preschool Program (UPK) family portal from the state. This includes:

  • New families
  • Returning families
  • Mapleton employees

Your child will be matched to a preschool program through the UPK system. After you receive your match from the UPK system, you must accept or decline the match to continue the enrollment process. This process may take up to four weeks.

Watch this video to learn more about the matching process.
