Traffic Information

Thank you to everyone for adjusting the way that we dismiss at Clayton and helping us have such a smooth start to the beginning of the school year.  This year grade K-2 will have after school pick up in the Skyview Loop and grade 3-8 will have pick up in the Clayton Loop.   If you have students in multiple grade levels, we are asking that the older siblings meet the younger siblings in their designated pick up areas and families pick up in the youngest student in the families designated area.

A friendly reminder that the intersection of York Street and Oak Place (Clayton Loop) is a “no left turn” during arrival and dismissal hours. The signs are posted and visible both northbound and southbound York, on Oak and exiting the Clayton Loop. This helps the flow of traffic during the busiest times of the day.

If the parking lots are full and parents need to drop off or pick up students, they need to drive around the neighborhood until the parking lot clears up. A possible choice would be to turn left on Fir, just past the Skyview parking lot entrance and then left again to come back down 89th St. to pull straight into the Skyview lot for pick up.  During Clayton dismissal we've have a lot of parents stopping on York with their turn signal on to turn into the parking lots (main and loop). Unfortunately,  parents cannot stop on the roadway to wait to get into the parking lot, York is only a two lane street (one lane in each direction) and this causes congestions and traffic hazards for the general public and makes it extremely difficult for emergency vehicles to get through if they need to.

Also another friendly reminder for those who park in the neighborhood, we have included part of the law for parking,

(2) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (4) of this section, in addition to the restrictions specified in subsection (1) of this section, no person shall stand or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or an official traffic control device, in any of the following places:

(a) Within five feet of a public or private driveway;

(b) Within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant;

(c) Within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;

(d) Within thirty feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon or signal, stop sign, yield sign, or traffic control signal located at the side of a roadway;

(e) Within twenty feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station or, on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station, within seventy-five feet of said entrance when properly signposted

(f) At any other place where official signs prohibit standing.

Thank you for all of your help and attention to our traffic procedures during dismissal.   With your help we can continue to have smooth dismissals and keep everyone safe.
