It’s time to show what you know!

It’s time to show what you know!

Throughout the month of April, Mapleton will join with school districts throughout Colorado in administering state tests, including Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), PSAT, and SAT.

Our state’s assessment system is informed by the Colorado Academic Standards, which are expectations of what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The assessments address 10 subject areas, including English language arts, math, science and social studies.

Assessments by grade level and subject:

Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)

  • 3rd - 8th grade – English language arts, math
  • 5th, 8th and 11th grades – Science
  • 4th, 7th, and 11th grades – Social studies

  • 9th and 10th grade

  • 11th grade

Why do we need statewide assessments?

Assessments provide valuable information about academic performance. Mapleton uses assessment data to identify strengths and areas of improvement for each and every student. Teachers are better able to refine and improve individualized instruction when they know what each student needs to be successful.
