It’s election week and Mapleton students are getting involved!
Meadow’s 3rd and 4th grade teacher Julia Puckett hosted a Class Presidential Election complete with ballots and a ballot box! Students created posters, campaigned with their classmates and finished with their presidential speeches on Tuesday.
The 6th grade class at Adventure Elementary took the time leading up to their mock election studying voting rights both from the past and today and explored the electoral college. Additionally, students participated in an interactive game to “win the White House” and had two workshops – one that focused specifically on voting and the other that discussed the three branches of government. These activities were in preparation for the sixth graders mock election, which was complete with a blind vote of each candidate’s issues.
Congratulations to all of the candidates and participants!
