CHSAA Physicals

According to CHSAA bylaw 1780.1, an adequate physical examination by a licensed practitioner is required within 365 days of sports participation. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, the CHSAA Preparticipation Physical Examination (PPE) form with be the only accepted physical form for student-athletics.

All High School students planning on participating in athletics are required to use the CHSAA PPE form when registering. Going forward, any registration that uploads any other type of physical will not be approved until a CHSAA PPE form is submitted.

Sports Scheduler Update

Mapleton Public Schools and Skyview Athletics are proud to announce that starting in the 2026-2027 school year, the Athletic Department is changing our athletic scheduling site to ArbiterLive. Our previous scheduling site, formerly run by rSchool and currently run by Arbiter, will be shut down prior to the 26/27 school year. We currently use Arbiter for several other tasks, most notably for our online registration, and look forward to using it for all of our future sport scheduling.

Skyview Wolverines Athletics Information

Fair play, courtesy, generosity, self-control and friendly feelings for the opposing team or school shall not be sacrificed in the desire to win. The Mapleton School District will take every possible measure to assure courteous, friendly, and fair treatment to visiting players, officials, fans and game officials.

As a Mapleton student, you have the opportunity to compete in a variety of junior high and high school sports as a proud Skyview Wolverine. Competing as a Skyview Wolverine takes time, energy and focus, but the rewards are great. Mapleton Public Schools invites all eligible students to participate in their favorite sports and to try out for a new sport in another season.

Academic Eligibility

High School Academic Eligibility

The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) requires students to meet personal behavior and academic performance standards for participation in interscholastic activities at the high school level. General eligibility guidelines are as follows:

Weekly Grade Checks

Each high school will monitor a student athlete's grade and report the information to the Athletic Director each week. The number of classes required to pass depends on the number of classes taken.

If your school offers 3 or less classes, the student athlete can not be failing any classes
If your school offers 4-6 classes, the student athlete can not be failing more than 1 class.
If your school offers 7+ classes, the student athlete can not be failing more than 2 classes.

Eligibility reports are pulled around noon each Friday. If a student does not meet the weekly grade check eligibility standard, the student is prohibited from participating in all competitions for the following week. Students cannot regain eligibility during the week they are ineligible.

Semester Eligibility

In addition to weekly grade checks, a student must have passed 2.5 Carnegie units of credit each semester or trimester.

If a student does not meet the semester/trimester standard, the student is prohibited from participating in a competition for approximately the first six weeks of the following semester.

Middle School Academic Eligibility

Middle School athletes are required to meet personal behavior and academic performance standards for participation in interscholastic activities.

Weekly Grade Checks

Middle School athletes must be passing all classes to be able to participate in athletic competition. Like the high school eligibility, the eligibility reports are pulled around noon each Friday. If a student does not meet the weekly grade check eligibility standard, the student is prohibited from participating in all competitions for the following week. Students can not regain eligibility during the week they are ineligible.

Student Insurance

All middle school and high school athletic programs require proof of medical insurance prior to registering for any Mapleton athletic teams. As part of this, families must type the name of the insurance company that is currently being used as well as the policy number that is associated with the plan on the online registration. This is a required step to complete the registration process.

If you do not have insurance, you may purchase an insurance plan. Mapleton does not directly sell or offer accident, health, or dental insurance for students. However, the district has selected K&K Insurance, a nationwide insurance company, to offer student insurance programs. To purchase insurance through them, go to their website:

You will be directed to the K-12 Student Accident Insurance page. Find and click the "Apply Online" button which will open a new page. On the new page, click the circle next to "Current School Year", then enter "Mapleton" into the textbox next to "School District or School Name" and select Colorado as the school state. Then click the "Search" button and Mapleton Public Schools should be the only option that is found. Click the circle next to it and then click the "Continue" button to move on to the next step.

The following steps will require you to enter your information, select the plan you want, and finally pay the cost of the plan. The cost varies depending on the type of coverage you select.

MaxPreps

MaxPreps is the website that CHSAA uses to maintain season statistics. Some sports do not us MaxPreps and instead use other sport related sites. Please talk to your coach if your sport does not us MaxPreps. Below are the links to each of our sport pages that use the site:

Varsity Letters

Athletic letters are awarded for participating at the Varsity level in a high school sport. At the beginning of each season, the head coach of the sport will inform students of their requirements for earning a Varsity letter.

Physical Education Credit

Physical Education Credit may be earned if a student athlete completes the season and satisfied the attendance and participation requirements set by his/her coach.

NCAA Eligibility Center

Any junior or senior wishing to compete in a Division I or II NCAA athletic program must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and certified as eligible. Student athletes should inquire at their individual school about how to get registered. For additional information, visit the NCAA website at www.ncaa.org.
