Dr. Wiley Cruse

Dr. Wiley Cruse, Ph.D., has over 35 years of instrumental, vocal, and general music teaching experience working with 3 year olds all the way through university level bands and orchestras. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology and E-Learning with an emphasis on Music Technology. He also holds a master's degree in Music Education and Instrumental Conducting and also holds a minor in Psychology. Dr. Cruse's dedication as an instructor has been recognized throughout the community. He was a recipient of the 9-News Teachers Who Care award in 2001 and also was selected as the conductor of the Jefferson Symphony Young Artists Orchestra in its 2003-2004 inaugural year.

Dr. Cruse has worked in the Mapleton school district since 2020, and he is thrilled to now be the Director of the Mapleton Wind Symphony and Skyview Wolverine Marching Band, and beginning band teacher. His resume includes similar high school Director experience at two other high schools where his music ensembles and student musicians consistently received numerous superior and excellent ratings nationally and in statewide competitions. His teaching philosophy is to bring to the table any and all tools necessary to give his student musicians the best and most successful music education possible.
