Mrs. Melissa Weyer

Mrs. Melissa Weyer, M.Ed. is the Assistant Performing Arts Director for Mapleton Public Schools. Prior to this position, Mrs. Weyer was a choir director for 24 years. She taught in Austin, Texas for 18 years before relocating to beautiful Colorado.  

In Texas, Mrs. Weyer’s choirs won numerous State awards, including 1st place in the TAPPS State competition for 9 years. While in Texas she was awarded the TAPPS 3A Fine Arts Teacher of the Year and the TCSA Teacher of the Year.  

In Mapleton, Mrs. Weyer has directed the 6th grade choir, the High School Choir, the MESA High School Choir, and Beginning choirs at almost every school in the district. She was the Music Director for Mapleton’s musicals, Into the Woods, Jr., The Little Mermaid, Jr., Mary Poppins, Jr., The Wizard of Oz, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. 

Mrs. Weyer received her Bachelor of Arts in Music, with lifetime teaching certification, from Lubbock Christian University. While receiving her undergrad, she participated in numerous choral groups and ensembles, performing in Hawaii, England, Scotland, Ukraine, Greece, and Spain. She most recently received her Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas, Arlington.  

In her spare time, she loves going to shows and concerts, traveling, pretending to watch football, spending time with her spouse, friends, and family. Mrs. Weyer enjoys reading and listening to audio books. Mostly she loves staying home, hanging out with their 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs named Denali, McKinley, and Lily, and their 2 cats, Rasa, and Nala.
