How do I enroll my child in a Mapleton school?
You are encouraged to enroll using our online enrollment application. If you need assistance with a computer or internet access, you are welcome to visit our Welcome Center or our Administration Building and complete the application in person.
How long will it take for the Welcome Center to process my application for enrollment and confirm school placement for my child?
The Welcome Center processes applications as quickly as possible. In most cases, you will receive your school placement notice by email within three (3) business days. During our busiest enrollment months, July, August, and September, processing may take up to five (5) business days.
If your child has an IEP or 504 plan, please know that it may take a little more time to complete the enrollment process. Mapleton’s Integrated Services team will connect with you directly to provide updates, gather any needed information, and answer your questions along the way.
Does Mapleton provide transportation?
Yes. The District provides transportation for all students attending schools more than one (1) mile from their homes. We have identified bus stops throughout the system that will get students to and from their school of choice.
Can I attend Mapleton if I live in another school district?
Yes. We welcome lots of families from outside of the district. Please note, we stop accepting applications for the current year for out of district families on October 1.
What happens if I don't get my first choice school?
We are proud to share that nearly all Mapleton families receive a placement in their first-choice school. When that is not possible, we work closely with you to secure a placement in your second or third choice. This is why selecting three schools on your enrollment application is so important – it helps us match your child with a great learning community as quickly as possible.
If you are not placed in your first-choice school, you may request to be added to that school’s waitlist. Our waitlists are renewed monthly. If you would like to remain on a waitlist, please contact the Welcome Center each month to let us know.
In what order are applications processed?
Generally, applications are processed on a first-come-first-served basis. When looking at placement, we do consider the following:
- In district with sibling attending a Mapleton school
- In district
- Child of a Mapleton employee
- Out of district with sibling attending a Mapleton school
- Out of district
For the best chances of getting placed in your first choice school, it's important to submit your completed application for enrollment as early as possible.
Do all of the school options have the same academic standards?
Regardless of the school you choose, your student will be held to the same academic rigor and will be expected to meet or exceed established District and state graduation requirements and standards, including state assessments. Despite their different structures and approaches to learning, all of Mapleton's schools will ensure students receive a solid grounding in academic fundamentals, including reading, writing and math.
If a student enrolls in one school and realizes later he/she wants to experience another school design, is it possible to transfer?
Students and parents should make their school choices very seriously. As students and parents learn more about the design they are considering, they will be making a commitment to that particular school because they are interested in the opportunities it is offering. Although we recommend that students remain in the school for a full school year, we will consider requests following the first grading period. Individual situations will be reviewed with the parent as needed to assure the most appropriate choice has been made. Research suggests that once students have committed to one of these learning environments, an overwhelming majority of those students remain with that same school until graduation.
